The theatrical history of Kharkov is deep and interesting.
Kharkov as a center of Slobodska Province attracted a large number of visitors for its famous fairs. At first the audience entertained speakers wandering troupe, which put temporary booths in the streets of the city. And in the late 18 th century in Kharkov emerged a real theater, where the troupe of 20 people put light play, and sometimes even ballets. The regular theater opened in 1791. It is worth mentioning the name of the then province architect P. Yaroslavsky, who created the wooden pavilion for performances, designed the stage, boxes, decorated with paintings theater.
